Tengri-Umai, a contemporary art gallery, as one of the first private galleries in Kazakhstan, was opened in April 1992. Its history is closely connected with the new history of art of the country. Initially, the gallery worked not only in the national art market, but also positioned itself as a new cultural center open to cooperation with local and international cultural institutions. The gallery launched partner projects with the German Institute for International Relations, the British Council, the Goethe-Institut, the French Alliance. The gallery cooperates with the Kasteyev State Museum of Arts. They also cooperate with well-known Kazakh and Central Asian artists, support the beginning authors and work for the development of the regional cultural environment.
